ECLAC presented its report on progress toward the SDGs in the region, noting that, with less than four years remaining until 2030, fewer than one-fifth of the commitments are likely to be met. Interestingly, the report’s title calls for picking up the pace. Meanwhile, a UN Special Rapporteur argues the opposite: reshaping the economy to produce ecologically sustainable goods and services with greater social utility, while reducing unnecessary and excessive production. Doing the same thing and expecting different results makes no sense whatsoever, unless the intended outcome is the opposite of what is stated.
