In a significant step toward the development of joint projects, the lacommunis Association signed memorandums of understanding with the Salvadoran National Indigenous Coordinating Council (CCNIS) and the Central American Indigenous Council (CICA) during a ceremony held at the CCNIS headquarters in San Salvador on May 25, 2026. The agreements were signed by Betty Pérez on behalf of the CCNIS; Amadeo Martínez on behalf of the CICA; and Ricardo Changala on behalf of lacommunis, who highlighted the positive impact of this agreement in support of the rights and dignity of indigenous peoples.

The implementation of the work plans will prioritize the strengthening of both organizations, with the aim of improving the effectiveness of their efforts and fulfilling their respective development missions. This alliance will focus on the community level in the case of CCNIS, while for CICA, actions will be specifically directed toward its networks of indigenous communities.

To achieve these objectives, the strategic cooperation will cover fundamental areas such as the promotion of the individual and collective rights of indigenous peoples. It also includes the implementation of communication strategies and actions, ongoing training processes, the promotion of institutional dialogue, and the joint development of studies and research on topics of shared relevance.

Through these new partnerships, lacommunis continues to expand its network of strategic allies in the region and strengthens its collaborative ties, with the aim of raising awareness of ancestral realities and transforming the commitments made into a driving force for change toward social justice and respect for Indigenous peoples.
